Stan Collymore: Twitter must take action for safer social media - because I’m not going anywhere

I understand to some degree that, because of what happened between me and Ulrika Jonsson, people will automatically assume I cannot have an opinion

This week I attempted to make a stand against the horrific abuse that takes place on Twitter.
Rather than relax with my family, I spent my 43rd birthday giving interviews about why we need to campaign for rules and regulations in social media.
I felt it was for the greater good as I want us to improve experiences on such websites to protect the next generation.
More than that, after having conversations with my 12-year-old daughter – who is very switched on – I realise we cannot let our kids normalise the horrible abuse that goes on.
I receive countless tweets which include disgusting racist remarks, as well as some that are even more threatening.
I have been reporting them to the authorities and they are being investigated, but what is extremely worrying is that so many come from teenagers.
For youngsters on Twitter now, it is normal, under the hashtag of banter, to write: “I am going to rape your mum.”

This implies the amount of danger and depression that can be caused from the rise of new and digital media, reason being is that the uses of twitter implies how easy people can connect with each other so easily, this leads to many abuse and really does show that there is a lack of privacy due to the rise of new and digital media

Snapchat: Worried Users Search Hacked Database

Users of the social media app can check if their phone numbers are among 4.6 million account details allegedly leaked online.

Snapchat
Snapchat claims to have 30 million active users online
Snapchat users in the US are waiting to see whether their privacy has been compromised after hackers claimed to have leaked the phone numbers and usernames of 4.6 million accounts.
The unidentified hackers say they carried out the attack to raise awareness of a security loophole in the database of the social media application.
In a statement emailed to website TechCrunch, the hackers said: "Our motivation behind the release was to raise the public awareness around the issue.

Were you hacked? Users can check online if their account was compromised
"It is understandable that tech start-ups have limited resources but security and privacy should not be a secondary goal.
"Security matters as much as user experience does.
"You wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant that spends millions on decoration, but barely anything on cleanliness."
The alleged database was originally published online with two digits of the phone numbers redacted.
I think that this has really put a blow to a lot of people's privacy as they have a risk of being hacked, this really does portray that the rise of new and digital media has had a negative affect towards audiences as this has meant a lot of people have had a lack of privacy due to hackers and really does make it hard for people to try contact someone without worrying

Progress report

I have analysed a trailer mainly focussing on the amount of media terminology that used but also gaining a lot of ideas that could be used in my production to benefit us and gain us a better knowledge on creating a perfect trailer

Homework Analysis

White chicks:

White chicks trailer includes many humorous scenes which makes the trailer more effective as it engages its target audiences attention and identifies the movie's genre. White chicks is a comedy movie and in the trailer it includes the most popular scenes to which are seemed the most humorous.

During the trailer, it mainly uses voice over as well as the dialogue within the scenes, this makes it more effective as the narrative is spoken out which demonstrates what the movie is about. However, in my trailer I am most likely going to have the dialogue from scenes to make my movie trailer more effective as this will engage to our target audience by showing parts of our most humorous scenes. There will be certain parts in my trailer where we will use voice over however majority of it will be small parts of certain scenes so it does not reveal too much information to my target audience. This will help build up suspense as audiences will want to know what happens next and what more is to come.

In addition, there is background music which makes the movie trailer more effective as it builds up a more lively effect depending on what is going on in the scene. For example the scene in white chicks which relates to the police, the background music makes the audience feel the adrenaline making the trailer more effective. Also, as White chicks is a comedy movie, the type of music in the background makes certain scenes more funny which could be used in my production as it also links to a comedy genre. For example, in White chicks there is a scene which plays Vanessa Carlton - Thousand Miles whilst a black man who is represented as a physically strong body builder is singing along to it which makes the scene more humorous rather than having a song which is more 'ghetto' that is seen as a stereotype.

The music included in this trailer are:
  1. "Latin Thugs" – Cypress Hill
  2. "Ms. Wilson" – The Penfifteen Club
  3. "Shake It (Like a White Girl)" – Jesse Jaymes (Copeland)
  4. "A Thousand Miles" – Vanessa Carlton
  5. "Realest Niggas" – 50 Cent, Notorious B.I.G.
  6. "White Girls" – Mighty Casey
  7. "Dance City" – Oscar Hernandez
  8. "Trouble" – Pink
  9. "U Can't Touch This" – MC Hammer
  10. "Dance, Dance, Dance" – The Beach Boys
  11. "Guantanamera" – Jose Fernandez Diaz
  12. "It's My Life" – No Doubt
  13. "(I Got That) Boom Boom" – Britney Spears featuring Ying Yang Twins
  14. "Bounce" (The Bandit Club Remix) - Stock, IC Green
  15. "Get Low" - Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz featuring Ying Yang Twins
  16. "Crazy in Love" – BeyoncĂ©, Jay-Z
  17. "It's Tricky" – Run–D.M.C.
  18. "This Love" – Maroon 5
  19. "No Control" – Blackfire

  21. "Tipsy" – J-Kwon

Build The Wall Analysis

First section is literally describing how the newspaper business is failing and that it's not at the level it once was before. He also notes that in order to save the newspaper industry by making people pay for the content online.

In the second section he describes that the most influential papers should deliver content online but that everyone does it together as the newspaper is supposedly dead, also noting how TV got better with cable content would possibly help newspapers online.

In the third section he describes how internet wasnt used at all in 1995, however gradually down the years the internet became something with our daily lives, therefore putting content online will gradually get better as soon enough many people will be only able to access the news through subscription.

In the fourth section he described three scenarios that would happen if the Times and Post had an paywall, explaining that both would survive, maybe lose readers or that one of them would probably survive or that American papers lose customers due to no online subscriptions

How has news changed in the last 20 years?

I think from the uses of news changing in the last 20 years has benefited institutions, reason being is that the grow of new media has made many people be involved with the term 'Citizen Journalist', this is when a person sends in a video to an institution to help support a story that they are working on, this is very affective for institutions as this means there's less work for them to go out and film as they have many people that will send in videos for them. This would also apply to Parato's law of the 80-20 rule, reason being is that I believe that 80% of today's news is provided by 20% of institutions, which really does imply how beneficial citizen journalism has brought the news to capture most of today's news.
