How has news changed in the last 20 years?

I think from the uses of news changing in the last 20 years has benefited institutions, reason being is that the grow of new media has made many people be involved with the term 'Citizen Journalist', this is when a person sends in a video to an institution to help support a story that they are working on, this is very affective for institutions as this means there's less work for them to go out and film as they have many people that will send in videos for them. This would also apply to Parato's law of the 80-20 rule, reason being is that I believe that 80% of today's news is provided by 20% of institutions, which really does imply how beneficial citizen journalism has brought the news to capture most of today's news.
